About Caira
Welcome
Hi there, I’m Caira!
I am a Registered Nurse and Student Health Coach. I have spent all 12 years of my career at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work on an acute care unit, an outpatient clinic, as well as hemodialysis for outpatients and in the pediatric ICU. I have seen the struggles that come with being a healthcare worker, a parent, and a patient – each of which are loaded with their own set of challenges and traumas.
I became a nurse because I wanted to help people. My experience in the hospital was a great starting place but my position lacked the ability to focus on the bio-individuality of each client and failed to address the multidimensional needs of each person.
I never expected I would leave my “home” at ACH, but if I have learned anything from the past few years, it is that our mental and emotional health are just as important as our physical health. Taking a big step outside of my comfort zone was just what I needed to pursue the fire I felt burning in my soul. I have always loved helping people and have a passion for educating others. I love to use education to help empower those around me. The Holistic RN & Co blends the worlds of health, education, and empowerment so perfectly.
Holistic nursing allows me to help the whole person by creating a balance between western & natural medicine and holistic health. We are all so unique and have so much value to add to the world around us. Taking this step into the world of holistic health is just what I envisioned when I decided to become a nurse.

A little about me…
I am a wife and a mom. My husband and I have been married for 11 years. We have two wild boys, ages 4 and 7, and a beagle named Ella that all keep us on our toes. We are home-bodies but love socializing with friends and family and love to host get-togethers in our home. I am always looking for ways of supporting the health of my family by providing an environment free from toxins. I love cooking, finding new recipes and creating healthier versions of my favorite comfort foods. I believe food brings people together so it tends to be the center of attention in our social life.
I was born in Calgary but grew up in southern Alberta in the village of Rosemary. I received my Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Lethbridge then moved to Airdrie after graduation to begin my career at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
I have always been interested in natural health, but my journey truly began when I became pregnant with my first son. I wanted to bring him into the world in the most peaceful and natural way possible. However, as a pediatric nurse I was overly aware of the risks and complications of childbirth as well as the results of those complications. I chose to have my son in the hospital but educated myself and my husband with an arsenal of pain relief and relaxation techniques to create a calm and natural birth. Everyone loves to share their horror stories of childbirth which can be detrimental to the psyche of a mother-to-be. Although my areas of interest in holistic health are broad, I still love providing education on this topic so women can make an informed choice for their family.

about me
I have toured what feels like almost every small town in central and southern Alberta. My mom loved to go for day trips to random towns every weekend growing up.
I have a freckle on my left eye.
I love cooking but hate cleaning up after!
I am a ‘bad’ Canadian; winter is not my thing. I belong on a beach, and love every ethnic food out there, especially Mexican.
I love to crochet – my neighbors call me Grandma Caira.
If I had not become a nurse, I would have been a teacher.
My husband and I spent our first 7 years together in a long-distance relationship, while I was in nursing school and he worked out of town. We would each drive 6+ hours per week to take turns visiting each other.
I love celebrating all the little holidays and try to make them special for my kids.
My husband and I make our own beer and wine.
I love 80s & 90s music, especially the ones I can belt out in the car, like “We Belong” by Pat Benatar and “Hold on” by Wilson Phillips.

I love learning and teaching and look forward to educating you as you move towards creating your healthiest, happiest life. I am currently enrolled in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Program and look forward to sharing this learning with you.
Whether you have concerns around diet and nutrition, anxiety, stress management, creating a healthy lifestyle for your family, or healing from past or present traumas, I am here for you! We will create a plan tailored to your unique needs and tackle it head-on, together.
My childhood traumas and triumphs, nursing experience, and motherhood have shaped me into the woman I am today. A woman who wants to support you in every way to becoming the best version of you. Everyone deserves health and happiness and I am looking forward to helping you make that a reality.
At the end of the day, if our own journey and experience can help just one more person, we are on our way to making this world a better place.
