About Malorey
Welcome
Hi there! I’m Malorey.
I’m a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. I’ve been practicing in the area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health for 10 years both as an Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse and Community Mental Health Therapist.
I have seen amazing work in the area of psychiatry but have become more interested in looking outside of traditional models of diagnosis and pharmaceutical symptom management.
I have training in traditional talk therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and feel that while it can be really beneficial, it is greatly enhanced when used with alternative modalities.
A holistic approach allows me work with people in all aspects with the recognition that diet and nutrition play such an important role in mood management.

A little about me…
I have been married to my husband for 9 years and we have two children. We recently moved out of the city in hopes to live more simply and closer to nature. My family is my world and the reason I have decided to make such a huge change in my career. I want to be able to show up both in my career and in my home in alignment with what’s most important to me.
I’ve always been “sensitive” and for a lot of my life I believed social messaging that this was weakness. I have learned over the years that empathy and intuition are my gifts to this world. I enjoy cooking at home and learning how to make things from scratch. My motto is that the closer your ingredients are to their natural form the more nourishing it will be for your body. I enjoy strength training at home, spin classes with colleagues and gardening.
15 years ago, I started to become more curious about the world of holistic health, natural remedies and alternative modalities. I was dealing with my own anxiety and related physical symptoms and experienced frustration with the one-size-fits-all approach. I credit my family-in-law for inspiring me to fully dive into learning about and utilizing holistic approaches which has completely transformed my definition of health.

about me
I am the second oldest of 4 girls. Life was absolutely crazy with all 4 of us in one house but I am so incredibly blessed to have 3 best friends who have been on this journey with me in every season of life.
I grew up in a tiny Northern Ontario town, Atikokan, so big lakes and everything outdoors feel like home to me.
I danced for 10 years and absolutely loved it. I continue to love dance but now it’s usually with my kids in the kitchen.
I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Studies with an original plan to go to teacher’s college. After working in a school Behavioural Program I realized that I loved working with youth experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges and completely changed my direction.
It can sound so cliché but by husband is truly my best friend. He is the person I can always rely on and the person I want to talk to and spend time with at the end of each day.

I am currently enrolled in the Health Coaching Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition which emphasizes a multidimensional approach to health. I hope to move away from the standard psychiatric model where diagnoses and theories of chemical imbalances are the main focus. I believe that psychiatry can be greatly enhanced by an integrative approach.
I love learning about people’s stories. I hope to create a space where we can look at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of Mental Health. I am Trauma Informed and recognize that childhood experiences, attachment and development all play a role in how we show up in the world.
I am passionate about working with youth and young adults. I believe in building relationships of collaboration with clients where they get to decide what works for them. I aim to create spaces for youth to feel fully seen and heard and believe in meeting people exactly where they are with no judgment.
I am so grateful and excited to be working with The Holistic RN & Co. where I can shift the conversation around Mental Health!
