If there is one thing that I remember distinctly from my childhood- it is loving all forms of ice cream. I remember we used to get orders in each month from the ‘ice cream truck’ and our freezer would be loaded for summer enjoyment.
Outside of my favourite treat, the dixie cups (remember those?!), I was also incredibly fond of the creamsicles. Orange of course, was one of my favourite flavours and I can actually still remember that distinct taste.
Despite the fact that I am much older than I was then, now with a dairy intolerance AND a keen awareness on the incredible sugar content those contain- I still love the idea of that flavour.
Now that we’re back in warm weather (sorry to those who are all at home in the cold), I’ve started regularly incorporating smoothies into our routine again. And I got the brilliant idea to combine some of my favourite items into a delicious smoothie to try and recreate the orange creamsicle flavour.
And boy, did it ever work!
This smoothie hits all the right notes and is incredibly filling. Not to mention that it is high in protein, has some hidden veggies in it, and is your daily dose of vitamin C.
I’m guessing you’ll love it just as much as I did.
But give it a go and let me know if you do!
